Our Training Offer

Your Trainer

Alex Cotton MBE is a qualified Mental Health Nurse with many years of experience.  She currently works in the NHS as a Street Triage Mental Health Nurse, attending people in mental health crisis in the community, when the Police have been called.

Alex founded It Takes Balls to Talk in 2015 after seeing that over three quarters of people who take their own life are male, and suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under the age of 45.

Format of the training

Each group could be to a maximum size of 15 people and will run for two hours.

It will include a safety notice at the start of each session, as it can be distressing for some people, whether or not they have been bereaved by suicide.  All individuals are free to leave the session if they feel upset by it content, but we do ask that they contact either Alex or a designated coordinator, either by email, phone or in person, after the session.

If any individual is personally affected by suicide in any way, as an experienced Mental Health Nurse, Alex has the skills to risk assess and signpost that person appropriately to ensure they receive the help they need.
